There are a number of home education organisations. These associations organise activities for homeschooling families and they protect the freedom of home education by representing homeschooling parents nationally or provincially. The details of these organisations are the following:

Pestalozzi Trust

In the Pestalozzi Trust, a large number of South African homeschoolers and cottage schools work together to protect one another’s freedom to provide home and private education. This means that they can educate their children lawfully and without unjustified interference.

Eastern Cape

The Eastern Cape Home Schooling Association was one of the first Associations of its type to be established in South Africa. The Association (in short referred to as ECHSA) is a voluntary organisation. All office bearers fulfill their duties as best they can between their normal day-to-day activities because they are passionate about the benefit of home education & wish to see it established as a viable educational alternative.

Some benefits of membership include information on homeschooling, assistance with establishing contact with other homeschoolers in your area, membership of our e-mail loop that keeps you up to date on legal developments, homeschooling in the media, curricula for sale and much more!
