Opgeleide onderwysers lei nie tot beter leerderprestasie nie

In navorsing oor tuisonderwys is male sonder tal bevind dat die kinders van opgeleide onderwysers nie beter presteer as die van ouers wat nie opgeleide onderwysers is nie. Die nuutste navorsing van die Homeschool Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) van 2009 het hierdie punt weereens bevestig.

Ironies genoeg het navorsing wat gedoen is oor onderwys in Suidelike en Oos Afrika bevind dat dieselfde geld vir skole.

Die navorsing is gedoen deur die "Southern and East African Consortium for Monitoring Educational Quality" , 'n konsortium wat navorsing doen oor die kwaliteit van onderwys in Suidelike en Oos Afrika.

Die verslag het aangetoon dat meer as die helfte van die onderwysers sukkel om eenvoudige persentasies te bereken. Hierdie onderwysers het bv. gemeen dat die hoogte van 'n heining met 15% verhoog word indien sy hoogte verhoog word van 60 cm na 75 cm.

Die verbasende van die verslag was egter dat addisionele opleiding van die onderwysers nie lei tot beter prestasie van die leerlinge nie. Indien die onderwyser se leesvermoe met 100 punte verbeter word, lei dit slegs tot 'n 7.1 punte verbetering in die leesvermoe van die leerlinge. Meer vakkennis deur die onderwyser het ook nie gelei tot beter prestasie van die leerlinge nie.

Die implikasie van hierdie navorsing is dat die miljoene rande wat gespandeer word aan die opleiding van onderwysers nie sal lei tot die verbetering van onderwys nie, en dit bevestig dat die navorsing wat oor tuisonderwys gedoen is, korrek is.
