Homeschooling : The Primary Years - Review

How exciting reading a book like Homeschooling the Primary Years by Shirley Erwee.

This is a South African homeschooling book written by a first generation homeschool mom. Homeschooling is growing in South Africa. We are not just part of this growing trend worldwide but making our own mark!

Shirley has homeschooled her 6 children for the past 18 years. During this time she has collected a lot of information through reading, research, forums and practical experience. She has written this book as a practical guide for homeschoolers, helping them to find their way on their own homeschool journey. She supports them in journeying out into the unknown as homeschooling is not a route most people follow or grew up with.

This book gives advice on how to overcome hurdles, making good choices and avoid common mistakes along the way. There is advice for all types of families, from the single-parent, single-child to the large family as any family can homeschool successfully. This is a very comprehensive book dealing with the history of homeschooling, legal status, socialization, sport, choosing a curriculum, special needs, family life and much more. It also challenges the home educator on the way they think about education. Rethinking what learning is all about. Informing them and in the process giving them more options.

Homeschooling the Primary Years explains alternative ways of education. Alternatives which has been tried and tested by homeschool families and which  will enrich and facilitate the homeschool process, turning the homeschool journey into an educational family adventure.

This is the second book on homeschooling published by Struik publishers. Click here to order online.

The first book on homeschooling by Struik publishers is "Homeschooling : High School" also by Shirley Erwee. Click here to read a review.
